Anatomy of inner ear

Basic anatomy
1. Membranous labyrinth
2. Bony laryrinth
3. Perilymphatic labyrinth

Membranous labyrinth (endolymph)
Utricle - within vestibule
Saccule - within vestibule
Semicircular ducts - within semicircular canals
Cochlear duct (scala media) - within cochlea
Endolymphatic duct - within proximal proximal vestibular aqueduct
Endolymphatic sac - within distal vestibular aqueduct
Bony laryrinth
Vestibule - contains urtcile and saccule
Semicircular canals - contain semicircular ducts
Cochlea - contains cochlear duct
Vesticular aqueduct - contains endolymphatic duct and endolymphatic sac
Medial aspect of cochlear aqueduct
Perilymphatic labyrinth
Located between membranous and bony labyrinth
Within vestibule surrounding the utricle and saccule
Within semicircular canal surrounding semicircular ducts
Within vestivular aqueduct surrounding endolymphatic duct
Within cochlea (called scala vestibuli and scala tympani) parallel (not surrounding) to cochlear duct (i.e. scala media - membranous labyrinth)
Cochlear aqueduct is purely perilymphatic labyrinth - runs parallel and inferior to IAC. Only the medial aspect is covered by bony laryrinth
