Thyroid malignancies: Pearls

  • Papillary ca is the most comon (75%) and has the best prognosis with 20YS of 95%
  • Follicular ca is 2nd most common (10%) with 20YS of 75%
  • Medullary ca accounts for 5% of thyroid ca with 10YS of 60%
  • Anaplatic ca accounts for less than 5% of thyroid ca with 5YS of 5%
  • Common in less than 20yrs and more than 60yes
  • Risk factors include neck irradiation and family history
